    Default Lake Murray Bridge

Driving to work from Lexington to Irmo this morning it got me thinking.....Do you thing we will ever see a bridge connecting the 2 sides around "mid-lake"? I'm not advocating for it just wonder if its anywhere in the future with all of the growth.

when rich yankees on one side want to get to the other side, yes there will be a bride.

Likewise, if there is a rich developer on one side wants to build more houses on the other side, there will be a bridge.

Those two things alone will drive the question

Actually wouldn't be that difficult to span from Hurricane Cove to Dreher Island.

Regardless, I don't think anyone would be in favor of it.

Considering the Town of Lexington just announced they are turning 93 acres by the dam into two hotels, a conference center and 1100 residential units (houses, condominiums, and townhomes), at this point anything possible. With enough political, big developer pull and tax payer money from Richland/Lexington county, I would most certainly think this is a possibility. Just depends on who jumps and screams advocating this. Lake Murray is not what is used to be.

I think it more depends on if land on each side can reasonably be procured by politicians or their cronies. Then they'll find a need to do it.

I would consider those across the rivers. I’m talking Shull to Dreher area.

Why not just go to 391, or to the dam?

I guess anything is possible but I doubt we see that.

    But what do I know

I go the dam everyday. I personally would rather have the longer ride and no bridge but I was thinking to myself I am surprised it hasn’t been put on the table.

I go the dam about every work day. Sometimes I’ll report to our Lexington office and sometimes I’ll run out to interstate to change things up. And I’ll also take the longer ride than to have the extra traffic from bridge halfway the lake. Guess a bridge there would save me 25 mins a day or so. I’ll just keep getting up early and make my way in.
