Some days you get the bear.

It was exciting as it could be but I think I'm going to stick to turkey hunting from now on. This altitude is kicking my old ass. Ain't nothing flat or easy to walk thru. I have to catch my breath just from taking a dump much less packing out a bear.

Thanks everyone. The upper half of him is going on my den wall. Me and my buddy are sitting over bait piles. One guy went on a dog hunt but I don't think I could keep up in this terrain and altitude.

I've had to catch my breath from taking a dump at normal altitudes

I've seen magpies chuckers ravens and mountain quail for the first time. I've watched elk and muledeer from the camp and sat on a mountain side eating a sausage and egg sandwich while listening to grouse drumming in some of the most rugged and beautiful country imaginable.
This was my reward trip for retiring and I couldn't have picked a better one.

An older couple stopped by camp to check it out. They are coming back for a bear hunt in 2 weeks. It was the wife's anniversary present from her husband for their 70th wedding anniversary. Guess if we can make it another 35 I'll do the same for my wife.

That’s awesome buddy. Glad you got you one. I finally got mine back. Weighed about 180 lbs. not a huge bear but the dogs ran him 11 miles. Ain’t no way I was going through all the stuff we had to go through and pass him up

Excellent picture. You look exactly like my great grandfather circa 1910 with the beard as a bear hunter. Not kidding. You look the part of a mountain man.

Congrats on the hunt and kill!
