My Dad and sister went and saw him play in Charleston a few years ago. Dad stayed late after the show and got to talk with him. He brought a program from a show that he kept from like 1977 and had him sign it.
Edit to add, my Uncle's father's company owned the Edmund Fitzgerald.

It gets real quiet like whenever The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is played around here. May they all RIP , Gordon included . Saw him plenty of times at a place called Massey Hall in Toronto. Only reason I'd go to Toronto. Cool info about your Great Uncle Willk

Solid Canadian, my wife loves it when I sing “If you could read my mind” as loud as I can in shower.

That's interesting. I worked the Summer after high school on a sister ship to the Edmund Fitzgerald as part of the US Steel fleet on the Great Lakes. It hit hard when the news came on that she went down as we had sailed the same route in previous years. That song always stops me in my tracks.

Don't know what he did. He just told me that one day. He was a very successful guy from Cleveland. When he died, my uncle said a few of his country club buddy's were there at the reading of his Will so they could get their houses back that he took playing Gin Rummy.

I remember my mom having a Gordon Lightfoot album when I was a kid.

But don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
    I just don't think he'd understand
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man

    Dude was a legend...
