I am on a Datil pepper kick currently. Friend of mine in Hastings grows them. A get sent Datil jelly, Datil hot sauce and a few fresh once in a while. They are wonderful.

I really like those- crisp them on the grill as a side with fresh fish …. Shut your mouth

To each their own, but when they make it for pepper spray I don’t feel the need to try it on my tastebuds..

What size containers are you planting them in?

Lowes or Home Depot should have them.

Only grocery store around here I can find them is Harris teeter. They are top shelf produce around here. But I bought seeds off amazon so this is my first year growing them myself. I haven’t been able to find started plants around here.

Dang right! I normally just sear them in a cast iron skillet with olive oil and sea salt

Haha this is accurate. My brother has grown Carolina Reapers since they got popular. He has burned his tastebuds out on hot peppers and hot wing challenges. Even so, most of his peppers get dehydrated, ground into powder, made into hot sauce, infused with oil, etc and never used because they are just too hot.

I put half of a reaper in a couple gallons of spaghetti sauce years back, and it made it borderline inedible.

Lowes on James Island has had Shishito plants the last few years...If you like Shishitos trying planting Padron peppers as well (have to start from seed), similar pepper, but plants are more prolific. Cook'em the same way, olive oil, salt and pepper in a hot cast iron pan or on the grill.

I like Jalapenos and some cayenne sprinkled in most chilis, stews, gumbos, etc. that I cook. Hatch chiles are really good too, but I will never understand the appeal of eating something so hot that it makes your eyes water and/or leaves blisters on your lips. I'd rather drive a lifted 3/4 ton diesel to make up for my small pecker.....

I won't eat a straight pepper but I love to use habanero powder. Perfect amount of heat for what I use it on and great flavor. And another vote for summer.
