    Default Jon boat rib filler/flooring

Just bought my son a 16/48 alumicraft and gonna help him fix it up.

Toss me some ideas on what you’ve used to fill the rib gaps and what you’ve used for flooring.

    Much appreciated

X2. I started with a ply wood cover over the foam then carpet but the plywood rotted out pretty quick. I finally bought a sheet of 3/16 aluminum to top it out then carpert and never touched it again. Expensive but worth the expense. Wish I took that route in the beginning.

Do not use the white bead foam under any circumstance. It soaks up and holds water.

Nothing. It all soaks up water.

Just drop a treated plywood floor in there. No need to fill between the ribs in my opinion. Cheap and easy

This. Except I got my closed cell sheets from Home Depot because Lowe’s didn’t have it. The aluminum foam core sheets are thinner and weigh less than regular aluminum and I got mine from a sign shop for 40 bucks. Ima little fella and there is no give whatsoever in the triton I did.

Just aluminum flooring, no foam. That way the leaves and trash that may get under the flooring will still run to the back where he can clean it out.

    Or, here's a thought...

Just spray some foam on the vertical surfaces, that way it's not in the bottom, but you have just enough in the boat where if it were to get swamped it won't sink to the bottom of the lake/river.

That's all it's there for anyway.

The chemicals in treated wood can eat right through aluminum.

I dont understand treated plywood. The glue still melts when in contact with water.

It eats thru fasteners as well, from what I hear. I think stainless holds up best.
