    Default FMJ vs. HP

I've grown tired of the beavers having free run of the deer club so I've set-up a 9mm carbine as my "walking around gun". After sighting it in, I set up a Go-Pro on as high a frame rate as possible and shot two identical water jugs, one with a 115 full metal jacket and one with a 115 grain hollow point. This is Frame #3 after the bullet first impacted each. The FJM just blew the top of the container. The hollow-point blew the whole side out. This was too fun not to share.

Speaking of 9mm carbines, I really want one of those Henry Homesteaders

That Homesteader is a nice looking carbine. If I was going 9mm I think that's the one I'd buy.

I looked at the Henry but the Ruger had such a long history of good reviews that I did the safe thing. I'm glad I did, I like the rails on the top and bottom.

Pretty big difference in the two it seems.

Maybe a beaver or two will have a bad day…

A 9mm carbine seems fun. While i like the blued walnut of the homesteader, id be more willing to pay half the price for the ruger. I have one henry and have held and shot several and they have not impressed me for what they cost

I've been perusing the idea of a 9mm carbine and more or less came to the same conclusion. The Ruger is hard to beat. And I a metric ton of Glock mags.

I would take a look at the S&W 9mm PCC offering.

I shot 200 times at the range the first day. It hung up once with a shell that didn't eject all the way...the Henry carbines seem to have a hang problem.

I'm not one to usually go cheap on things but I just don't see myself carrying or using that rifle a whole lot so I went cheap on the scope...$130 for the one below...and so far, I love it. I think it's absolutely perfect for the Ruger PC Carbine. It's 3x so more than just a red dot and has graduations and is lit with 5-levels of green and red and, since it's got etched reticles, it works even when it's off or the batteries are dead. It comes with cheap flip covers but they seem to want to fall off and I'm not ready to glue/tape/tie wrap/etc. them more permanently...just yet anyway. The graduations are for a 5.56mm but the smallest dot works good for 100yards on the carbine when the big dot is sighted at 50 yards.

I've got a green laser/light combo that was very cheap, $40, that I may regret that but I'll see the first night I get to use it. It does fit (after a slight modification) the rail on the foreend of the gun but was too close to the sling attachment so I got a $6 rail extension that solved that problem.

It is a fun and fairly cheap to shoot, though.
