I hand painted that joker with testers camo pain set off Amazon. I woulda had it dipped if there was a place remotely near me that would do it, but I'm kinda glad I was "forced" to wing it myself.

So while I'm posting about turkeys...I picked up my son's first turkey, a fine Merriams, from Kinker's in Indiana. The pic was from his cell phone and is not great, as the color/tinting is way off...the feather tips are super white and the head has more red than the pic shows...just a bad pic for whatever reason, but it looks fantastic in person.

I also picked up my freak turkey from Johnny Griggs (DWC). I bought a soft topper camper top so I could bring them back in the bed of my truck this trip. If you've never had a turkey mounted...two mounted turkeys is a LOT of freaking turkey! My bird fit in the truck bed in a crate, but I had to borrow my dad's trailer for Holleman's bird, because two clearly would not fit in the bed of my truck. Got to Kinker's in Indiana to find out he didn't crate the bird and had it ready for travel inside my truck cab. After some serious reshuffling and packing gymnastics, we got him in the truck. I'll post wall pics when/if I can figure out where the heck these things are going to go. All I can say is that it seemed like a good idea at the time, and I'm sorry to my youngest son when he kills his first bird, because I won't be getting any more turkeys mounted...period. Here is the freak...as well as my four bearded turkey.

Hopefully I'll get to go chase one this year for myself in a few weeks.

That is awesome. Tell him now that you've shown him how he has to call is next one up on his own.

That’s awesome. Cherish every hunt, fishing trip and sitting around talking about nothing. It’s hard when they’re gone.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
