    Default Girl Party

I wanted to take my 9 yo on a turkey hunting trip this year, and asked where she would like to go, because she still thinks I’m cool, turkey hunting is cool, and airplanes are cool. She said “Dad, you always seem to have fun in Texas”. She is correct.

So, I threw the idea out to Cali, he enlisted his killer, and we took a close family friend to hunt and help us out. The older girls were vital in encouraging mine, and the girls killed 5 rio gobblers. Cali threw in a 6th by doubling with his daughter.

I’m sure she will think I’m stupid and not cool one day, but the past 4 days, that wasn’t the case. Lots of sprites and snacks and desserts, and smiles. Hunting with kids is a unique challenge. Hunting with girls adds nuance to the challenge. Just take them. It’s hard, but damn it’s worth it.

All birds were shot gobbling and strutting. Also, the travel 0001 Mr Fox vest made the trip, so that added some coolness as Jane and Anne Mac got to be the first females in the log book!

Good killing, those blue bonnets are pretty

Explain the 0001 travel vest please,

I recently saw a 0001 vest listed for sale, are they the same or was a special one made for traveling? Or was someone trying to pass off a knock off vest?

I didn't understand 75% of what you said but I'm glad there's no photo competition this year bc the blue flower pic would win it.

That's just rad. Only descriptor I could come up with that fits, even if it's a bit outdated.

Fantastic stuff sir! Our oldest daughter is 5, tried taking her on a squirrel hunt and the girl can't sit still against a tree for more than 5 minutes lol. So we aren't ready for turkeys yet but I can't wait for the day to come.

Awesome pictures too, very well done!

PS - Scott told me a while back that Jane wasn't gonna get to go to Texas this year. Guess she showed him who was boss

Wonderful thread. Very proud of all the team. Those girls won't forget their turkey trip to the Lone Start State.

Yeah, that was a scam. The 0001 vest was the first prototype made, and will hang in the Mossy Oak museum when it makes it back to West Point. It was passed around among some great hunters last year (Harold Knight, Will Primos, Keith Ott, Jason Hart, Ernie Calendrelli, etc) last year. Just a cool piece of history. Daniel Haas killed a bird in it at the LCTI, and passed it to me, then to Cali, tomorrow to Jacob, and then back to West Point via Georgia. I was darn sure honored to wear it, and Jane called in a bird for a friend with it on.
