    Because its cool to hate anything popular. Performance wise its very similar to your .270. It shoots a very aerodynamic bullet without kicking the shit out of you. Match grade ammo, rifles, and optics all showed up about the same time as long range shooting was getting popular. The Creedmoor made it easier to play without a bunch of expensive custom built gear.
