Default 2018 F150 Ecoboost cold start rattle

Actually all models with the Ecoboost

So looks like the issue has been extended to OCt 2019 build date (2020 model year)

Some say it’s the VVT gears (phasers) some say tensioners, some say stretched timing chains. Ford says updated VVT gears. However with cam crank correlation codes it’s the chains.

How much does this set the wallet back? My 2013 just clicked 100k and it’s not doing it, yet.

The consumer is screwed when it comes to new vehicles.

Sold my 2015 for this very reason. I bought a 2019 tundra and have never looked back.

I had a 2019 that did that. Just sounds bad. Never had an issue but hated listening to that thing

On my old 18 they replaced timing chases, can phasers and camshaft. The 3.5 is a hot engine, but seems like needs stronger components. We’ll see how my 23 holds up…

If my ‘21 does it, it’ll get fixed. Dang thing is a rocket. Put a 5 Star Tune on it and it’s just badass.

    I own an ‘18 Tundra, I don’t drive it.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Heard a Ford idling in Walmart parking lot yesterday sounded like the timing chain was slapping. When I can out he had done cut it off.

Good thing that you are keeping it for whenever the Ford goes in the shop.

I’ve got another Ford. My kid might get the Tundra unless I get it sold. I love my Land Cruisers, the Tundra is a slow, weak, loud, dump truck riding, gas guzzling turd.

I know. Since he dislikes it so much, he should give me a good deal on it.
