    Default Best 1/2 Ton

I’m going to be in the market for a new truck in the next year. Currently have a 2017 F-150 with the 5.0 and six speed automatic. 160,000 miles and haven’t had a single issue with it so I’m leaning towards getting another one but still wanted to shop around.

I need four wheel drive and four doors. Don’t tow daily but need to be able to pull 8,000 lbs locally on occasion and 6,000 lbs over the mountains a couple times a year. I don’t want any frills (leather, electric seats, big screens, etc.) and I’m not too worried about gas mileage or riding like a car. Don’t want a diesel and am skittish about trucks with turbos.

What’s the consensus on the best truck out there to be least likely to have things go wrong before 150,000 - 200,000 miles?

I just rolled 150k on my 2018 Tundra and consider it just getting broke in. I plan on 300k.

    My issues on that truck:

Fit and trim is loose and rattles.
EPA implemented start up smog thingy is corroded and it struggles to start on humid/cold days. Replacement is $2k.
    Fuel mileage.

You've got the best offering out there for 1/2 ton truck.

Keep the one you've got or replace with the newest offering with the same motor.

They are all a crap shoot…I am in a 16 5.0 and terrified to upgrade to a covid truck….2020-2022 yrs. Seems all brands have phasers / trans / lifter issues……

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

    Bowfin,
I’d be interested in your current truck if you’re ready to make the leap. PM if so.
