We were finally able to get together at Oak Grove for the Can’t Break Jake auction quail hunt. Cali has an amazing place, and 3 generations of Boozer men were able to make it down. We had Arkansas Mallards over jalapeño grits, played some pool, had some of Jake’s barrel pick of Bulleit bourbon and called it an evening.

This morning started with watching ducks, listening to a bay erupt with continuous gobbling, and then onto the quail buggy. Rest assured that this is no quail kicking deal. These birds are released in September, and they are absolute rockets. The shooting wasn’t up to standard, but getting to watch 12+ covey rises is a true treat. Plenty of laughs, great hospitality, and more quail than I care to clean. Oak Grove is truly a special place.
