    Default Over-fished Areas?

Fished on Saturday in Georgetown, which is awesome in part because of the lack of crowds. That got me to thinking, are there bodies of water in SC that receive non-sustainable pressure? Talking particularly about freshwater and inshore. Discuss.

    Yes.

Try not to talk about the ones that don't have a lot of pressure.

    The flounder population is hurting.

Can you still catch all of the species that you're targeting? Most of the time yes.

More people than ever fishing a finite resource. With gear and tech that is better than ever.

Social. Media. (Yes, sites like this are social media, regardless of what some of you people tell yourselves)

Catch and release helps,...even though it pisses off people like Jimmy.

Great floyd yes. Wateree gets beat to death.... Really wish they would close the season for keeping fish for 45 days on santee and wateree during the spawn. Just for a year or two.

I really dislike the out of towners on Lake Wateree coming out there live baiting rockfish like talentless assholes, typically guys from North Carolina. They're supposed to be chased on top. I don't care about black bass fishing.

Living at Wateree during December and working from home was pretty eye opening as to how pressured those fish are. Especially with the water so far down. At any time throughout the day there were 3-4 boats drifting within eyesight and a bass boat on every visible point. Maybe it was, but I don't remember it being like that growing up.

I don't think I've ever eaten a rockfish out of Wateree, not on the river either.. in my younger years I did fry up some white bass, but they were stupid plentiful back then. It's like someone wants to destroy all of my fond memories...

All the ones I've eaten since living here have been from Greenwood and Murray. I don't fish on Hartwell because of the advisory to not eat any fish.

You put a lot of stock in those warnings? I guess better be safe than sorry.

I figure in the size, water, and water temp.. Wateree will have a large algae bloom into summer, gross. It's like a cooler spring pond bream compared to one eaten during warm water after fertilized and bloomed.

Animals taste like what they eat and live in

If you take them home, they need to be cleaned. I'm tired when I fish all day.

You are correct on that. I like eating freshwater fish during cooler months, not so much in the Summer. Saltwater fish always taste good, doesn't matter the time of year. Unless you catch them in Florida during the Red Tide... those might not be as good.
