Default Cant Break Jake Cooler Filling Weekend @ Fort Kickass Volumne I

Had Fishsticker, his boy Blake, and DC out to fill some coolers and we did just that. The fish were on fire and I dont want to see another catfish for a long time. Really hammered the flatheads this weekend. Danged good weekend and I enjoyed all of it except cleaning all the fish. The food was on time. I treated them to Big D's Friday night, and Fishsticker brought some hella big ribeyes for supper Saturday.

Couldnt fit all the filets in one 120 qt cooler. I think they filled up a 90 qt with a little left over. We cut fish for over five hours.

The weather sucked. Squirrels didnt move. I baited them for two weeks, all over the place. Not a single danged rat. We walked for some pigs, but the swamp was rising and Blake's boots werent high enough. Sunday morning while picking up lines, we busted a sounder of about 50 out of the canes on the river bank but didnt have any guns with us.

We were close to the pigs but had to turn back because of water levels and little legs.

Agreed. Nice pile of fish, good looking steaks, then I saw the flintstone toes

Those ribeyes needed something for scale, and the coals were too hot to throw a beer can up there. Those toes fill up a size 14 wide.

After we pulled the steaks, Justin stomped out the fire....

And I haven’t cut fish like that since the 90s when we actually had tuna around these parts...it was getting AWFUL close to being like work.

Great weekend...the boy had an absolute blast. Good food, good friends, some empty brown water bottles make for a great getaway. The simple fact that we could have done this
at anytime, but chose to do this to help out one of our own in need speaks volumes of how this place comes together for a cause. Thanks to Justin for volunteering the place and time, Michael/Jake for making the trip and matching the donation, and most importantly thanks to the good Lord for his healing hand on Jake's continued full recovery.

When we get into that many catfish, we drive to Macdaddys with coolers full and eat breakfast while the guys at the landing clean your fish for $30-$40 dollhairs. I hate cleaning catfish.

    Looks like an awesome time.

My first job outside of family was cutting fish. As anyone who has cut fish with me will attest, I am pretty peculiar about how fish gets cut. If you cant see through the backbone or maximize the yield, you get fired.

I really just need to get a commercial license so I can sell them on the hoof.
