I hunt alone too. I've scared myself a couple of times over the years. I always, always, always wear my life jacket when the motor's running or if I'm in water over my head. I always wear the kill switch unless I'm picking up or putting out decoys (because it would get tangled otherwise) and I carry one of these with me...

This is in addition the the boats EPIRB
These can be just as useful in the mountains or anywhere else.
I read they saw a 20 minute average rescue time last year with these units
