    Default Hack and squirt

A few questions, if you will. I am trying to open up some areas in what is now a beaver pond, but stays wet with a barely defined flow through the center when there are no beavers. About 12 acres. It looks mostly like the first picture throughout. I've only made it to the corner marker on the other side once in four years.

Anyway how would one go about treating trees like in the second picture? How many hacks and what concentration on the gly? Can I effectively kill the stump on trees like this? (It was logged 15-20 years ago and all of the stumps grew back this way, mostly gum).
After treating can I cut above the hack to use for firewood? Am I gonna poison the beavers??

You are going to get fair results at best with gly.
    50% triclopyr
    10% imazapyr
    40% water
    Add about 3% dye
This formula will kill pretty much any thing it touches (hack and squirt). Just need to be careful not to let it run out of the cut. The imazapyr can affect nearby non target trees if it gets into the soil.
Typically 1 hack per 3” of tree at DBH.

I hack and squirt all year except for in the spring when the trees first start showing life.

Thunder chicken has the formula. Growing season is the best time to do it. Should be fine to burn it for firewood. Good luck.

I've had good luck in July-August when a beaver pond is normally 6 inches lower than normal. We cut the tree off level with water and then spray. There was 0 regrowth and during duck season it's a clean pool.

    Use the formula mentioned above.

Anybody have any recommendations for a crew that does hack and squirt in the lowcountry? Thanks.

Looks like a good place for blackducks. Just add corn...

Walk a 320 size excavator in there and clean that place up.
