    Default TAC

Specifically, their glue. I have the primer pen and glue, using it on their 2.75 Driver vanes.

The glue is taking a ridiculously long time to dry even to the point I can release the clamps without disturbing the clamp placement. I am priming the vane and have even taken to priming the arrow shaft too, in case that would help. Arrow has been wiped clean with alcohol before any of that.

Planning on calling them tomorrow to see if they may have had a bad batch of glue but have y’all had/heard of any such problems? The bottle says it should be bonded in 5 seconds (as I would expect with any CA glue, especially when using an accelerator like I presume the pen is) and shoot in 15min. I’m about to go check but I doubt they are ready even after 10min or so.

    Talk to me….

I just use Gorilla super glue with the light blue lid. It’ll be rock solid in a few mins. I also use bohning x vanes which I believe are pre-primed.

I had similar issues at first, but TAC details a specific prep process. Most importantly, prime vane immediately before applying glue. Don't prime 3 and start on a shaft. I dotted the pen on a piece of paper each time to make sure it was dispensing. When followed, they stuck fine for me. I have 6 practice shafts that held up over a year now with probably 300-400 shots/arrow. I also found that 3 degree helical is about all they can handle. Bob Smith glue works fine, but whatever you use make sure it's pretty new.

I had a little problem but I think it was because I was in my out building and it was really cold. I started warming the vanes in front of the heater and then holding the jig with the vanes and arrow in front of the heater while drying.

I think you meant to send a link to a pellet grill and it came up as quick-fletch.

And I'm following the TAC process exactly - dotting it to be sure it's dispensing, etc. The glue adhering to the vane isn't the problem as much as it's not adhering to the arrow itself.

It's CA glue. Not worth the effort.

If you decide you are tired of messing with them the 3” x vanes are awesome. And you don’t spend half your day trying to get them to adhere. 4 fletch works great on my setup. 82A06B63-C4C0-4178-B814-F01203599DDA.jpg
