Yep JAB.. shooting them on the old prison farm was I believe the first time I remember you as a kid. It was always iffy, keep your lines in a crowd. I've mostly shot them in drained impoundments. Fun shooting.

That was a while ago, Ralph. Even then I thought it was wild, all us roaming the prison farm armed and shooting this or that. Good times for sure...

    Haha, yep.

Years ago, there was a dove field out there planted, maybe a dozen years back. Several of us were asked about it, bought seed, had it planted.. I think there were 2 shoots before it was stopped. I didn't make a single one.

Hunter Smith's book has a great short story on snipe hunting. I think it's called "On Fragile Wings" if you're interested.

When Mark McCown was the warden, we used to crappie fish in the ponds a lot. My father caught a 4lb crappie there. Anywho, they used to allow conjugal visits on the athletic fields in tents. I was about 10 and didn’t know sex from soccer, but we were leaving there one day in August, and it was hot as all hell. I remember my grandfather looking out at all those tents and saying “you gotta be hard up for some sex”

Little confused about the 4th pic John but I’m not complaining.

Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
