    Default stuck choke

i know. soak it in Kroil. did that a few times with everything from brake cleaner to used motor oil.
    didnt budge.
tried it in a vice. worried about scratching the barrel. didnt budge
    whats next option?

this is sons old clays gun. blue receiver. i think its called an xcel?
i took the barrel off my a400 (unico?) and its not the same. sure would be nice just to switch...

how much is a new barrel?
    and i need a +5 choke.
or maybe its a -5. but anyway, I want the choke out and a new one in so my daughter can shoot clays with this gun.

    let the stupid responses begin....
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.

Shoot it until it’s hot. Then try and remove it. Worked for me a few times.

What kind of choke is it? What tools are you using to remove it?

I'd take a blow torch to it.
Or stick just the barrel in the oven @ 500

Cut it off and get it re-threaded. It will be a good reminder to take care of your gear.

A little anti-seize grease on the threads sure would have saved you some aggravation. Oh well, maybe next time

They can get stuck regardless. I had one get stuck after hunting in the Outer Banks for 3 days. I took the gun apart every evening and cleaned and lubed it so that wasnt the problem. The big problem was when I took to a gunsmith and asked him to take it out and he gave my Benelli M2 back to me with 2" cut off the barrel and rethreaded in rem-choke

Mack’s tried the blowtorch method. Burned 3” of the camo off the end while failing to get it out. Still mad 20 years later…

Try soaking in penetrating oil, Kroil, liquid Wrench or what every your flavor for at least 24 hours then try to get it free. Need to submerge at least the length of the choke. Keep repeating the 24 hour soak. You can heat it in between soaks. It may take a couple week to soak it free. There are choke removal tools sold by Brownells and MWG but they destroy the choke tube and possibly may damage the barrel so care must be taken.

I sell something that puts Kroil to shame. Chesterton 723. It's more expensive, BUT it works. Let me know.

    Barrels are expensive

    What choke is stuck?

One of my old guns that were stolen had a stuck choke, I never bought another that screwed in flush.. just normal extended Beretta chokes, not stupid marketed chokes with cool names. Those are for the needy.

I bet you bought it at Barons, ask them if they have a better tool with leverage. I keep mine hand tight.

I suppose it can happen, depending on what I’ll you use, particularly in salt water environments.

Personally, I’d bet that 2th’s choke hasn’t been removed from that barrel in years.

I retract previous statement "defending" 2th and am now on your side.

Don’t let it happen it the first place. Prevention. Hope this helps.
