    Default Son's first drake mallard

Been an interesting year in our little swamp. We havent seen nearly as many wood ducks as years past, but will gladly trade wood ducks for the first mallards we have killed at our place. We have had this place for about 10 years and have seen a couple of mallards use it after the season in years past, but none have been around when we have hunted it. That all changed the last two weekends. He shot a hen mallard last weekend and then this weekend, four came in and three went down and he shot the green head. A ton of fun watching him have this success.

Congrats, that's really special. Nicely captured photo, like the he's holding that Mallard for the pic.

That is all kinds of cool

Congrats to the lad and the proud dad. I too have a little beaver pond that will produce a random mallard or 3. It's a nice treat.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!
