Alot of ducks overfly their normal targets running in front of severe cold/snow. As soon as the wind turns back south, they know the thaw is coming and move.


I remember a 19-21 day freeze in Arkansas. After postponing our original trip we arrived on the first day above freezing. They came from the south in large flocks for two days as hard as I've ever seen. We chopped a 30 by 30 ft hole out and hunted it for 5 days straight. It was a sight to remember.
