    Default Dead Duck Pics!

    Where they at?

If this arctic front doesn't bring in a load of ducks to SC you might as well hang it up.

Somebody sent me a picture of a dead duck. It's been a while since I had seen one so I had to do a google image search.

Turns out it was, in fact, a dead duck.

    So congrats to that guy!

Scouted Wednesday, found a lot. Went back to hunt this morning, and the woods were locked up. I walked in breaking 1/2-3/4” ice for almost a mile solo and didn’t pick up the gun. Last time I do that solo without a boat. 6 degrees with a 20 mph wind when I got out of the truck.

I had more birds before the monsoon last week than now. Did get a hunt invite tomorrow morning on a farm pond that filled up this morning. Based on the forecasted 10° temps, I’m gonna say it will be locked up if the wind doesn’t keep blowing. At least that’s what I keep telling myself to ease the pain of not being able to go anyway. Gotta smoke a wild thunder chicken for Christmas lunch with the in-laws tomorrow.

The pintails and wigeon poured into the ricefields this afternoon and they'll be pouring into the adjacent rivers tomorrow morning. If you're not already in your spot in the marsh now or at least putting in at the ramp, you're too late. Going to be epic in the morning.

I try to tell people cold weather here is never good. At least for the style birds I hunt at least. A clear cold west wind day never works for me. But I’ve been wrong before. I will not be hunting in the am.bring back 60 degree weather!!

I saw 60-80 ducks this morning. All a mile high flying over the wood line. Never saw a duck in range. Monday I did not see a duck at all. Not sure if this morning was a positive or a negative.

I was feeling pretty damn good about shooting ducks this year until today. 40mph gusts humbled me.

    Tell me about it.

Decoyed 8 teal this morning and killed my 1st one at 20 yards. Killed my 2nd at 45.

They had a lot of help getting out of the hole with that wind!
