Default Question for the dawq docterzzzzzzzzzz

Gunner has a cyst on his rear leg. The vet prescibed a oral antibiotic and animax as a topical treatment. I home I can keep him from licking it off, but I am going to board him for a week over Christmas. The boarding place will put the ointment on, I'm sure. But....if he licks it off will the medicine still work, either throught the skin or orally with him licking it? And no, I ain't gonna put one of those stupic halo collars on him.
Thank you kindly! Your pal LabLuvRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I’d put a cone on him and let the people you are paying to keep him worry about it.

E collar or surgery to remove it. Otherwise you get what you get.

I make more money when people like you don’t want to do what you’re supposed to do. So in the financial interest and prosperity of your vet I hope you ignore what they say and do whatever you think is right. His/her kids want nice things too.

Surgery is scheduled for February 4. he simply would not wear that car while I am boarding him. I would just have them put put it on and feed him immediately he will forget about it. I always follow the doctors orders you big dummy.

Might be too late in the game, but my dog use to do the same thing. My sister actually works for a vet, and she told me to mix up a Clorox solution, (1 cap full of bleach to a gal of water) and spray it on the area a few times a day. The solution is the perfect antibacterial treatment, and the dog won't lick it...unless it likes the smell of Clorox.

If he's getting the cone off, you're obviously not putting it on correctly. I've never had a dog be able to get one of those off.

My heathen couldnt get one off. If he couldnt get one off, no dog can unless applied incorrectly.

FWIW, dont put the salve on your business to replace your current peanut butter regimen. It may have side effects.

For most people with thinking ability the word "topical" verses "oral" would have been a dead giveaway.

And if it can wait two months for surgery then it ain't that big a deal anyway.

And what color complexion would that be?
Pasty white, ruddy, maybe leucistic? ( had to google that last one)
