Never been a fanboy of any company….I always bought what felt best in my hands. I’ve owned Matthews, Bowtech, Elite, and New Breed…they were all incredible bows.

After the approximate time (year) the Outback and Switchbacks came out, I think the incredible leaps and bounds in improvements slowed dramatically. I mean, limbs can only be so parallel, cams can only be tweaked so much to eek out every drop is speed and/or smoothness, and aluminum risers can only be made so light/strong chasing the ideal combo.

There are some cool designs to minimize cam lean and make bows much easier to tune, but if you have a Switchback XT, you own one of the deer-murderingest bows ever produced. Get a new set of quality CUSTOM strings and cables, take it to someone who actually knows how to and will take the time with you to tune and set your bow up properly, and spend your money on some other gear you might need.

That bow is a quiet, smooth shooting killer.

    Thanks

Y’all have talked me into sticking with Switchback XT.

Gonna take Turk’s advice and take it to bow shop right down road from where I will be bow hunting

Hell right under my nose, drive by it all time

The switchback XT is the best hunting bow ever made, wise choice.

I almost agree, but if I could get my ‘09 Elite Z28 back (sone piss-ant meth head stole it and an Elite Hunter off my back porch), I’d once again own what I consider to be the best hunting bow ever made. The Switchback XT is definitely right there with it, and I’d bet a poll would show it’s probably the most popular killing machine in the modern archery era. I think the Switchback era was when bow companies realized they needed to slow their roll on adding “innovative” new options to their bows lest they run themselves out of business.

    Sticking with my VXR

I was WAY overdue for an upgrade. Was gonna shoot the Elite Omnia but a customer had dry fired the last model the pro shop had so that was off the table. Also wanted to try the Prime Revex but they weren’t a dealer. Shot the Phase4 and decided then and there that I was done looking.

We will just have to see how the limbs hold up long term but I couldn’t be more pleased with how she shoots…..

Keep an ear out for your Mathew’s Chinese bearings. My VXR had a one go out. Crazy that a thousand dollar rig uses a 5 cent bearing.
