Hard to fathom the divide between Portland and the rest of the state. There's actually a fairly robust movement for the eastern half of Oregon to secede and form"Greater Idaho".

I think eastern Washington was wanting to join the Greater Idaho also. The divide is the same as the devide in most states with a very large urban population. Even evident in GA with the Atlanta area swaying the state.
