    Default Aftermarket Headlight?

I have had the headlights restored on my old truck a few times with less and less success each time. Actually had a bulb go out a while back and replaced both bulbs, and I still get very little light. Hard to see at night. I think it is time to replace the headlight assemblies. Are there any decent aftermarket options? I see mixed reviews on everything.

Look into DEPO head light housings. I’ve bought a couple sets from them and they all have been good. They are going on 5 years old on my Tacoma no leaks or fading. A LOT cheaper than oem too.

I’ve had good luck with https://www.headlightsdepot.com/. Ford truck and 2 toyotas all fit like OEM.

If you know anybody that can spray a urethane clearcoat on them before you install it will save a lot of aggravation down the road.

Spray with a good clear before installing.

After the headlights are polished/restored they have to be coated or they will be right back to crap with in two years. Meguiars makes a spray can of it

We sand all ours to get the pitting out. Then we polish, buff, treat, and then clear. Never had a complaint. If a BMW 7 series with “plastic” lenses come clean and stay clean… you’re onto something.

Think I did the lights on my x5 with a 3m kit. Came with all the sanding pads, etc, even the clear coat after the work was done. Couple years later still holding up strong.

New options include OEM, and aftermarket. OEM (dealer) lamps will fit and work perfectly, but cost the most. Aftermarket lamps will vary TREMENDOUSLY in quality- fit, durability and warranty... Look for CAPA certification, we've had good luck with those lamps. Another option is to buy "reconditioned" lamps which are sold by a company that has repaired a mounting tab or something and sells you the repaired OEM lamp at a discounted price. You can also have your lamps removed, sanded & clear coated as others have suggested. Aftermarket sources include Keystone, KSI, AMAZON, etc... Reconditioned lamps can be had at RPW, Headlights-R-Us, Headlight Depot and Elite Headlamps. If you want your lamps cleaned/cleared, find a decent body shop near you, and get them to bid the job. If you use "cheap" clear or rattle can clearcoat, driving/road debris will cause it to start chipping in short order.

1AAuto is where I have gotten headlight assemblies for GM products in the past with good results. I may still have old ones laying around if you want to experiment.
