Default "Zero dollars" Is that different than free?

I recently keep hearing on TV commercials the term "zero dollars", as in a "zero dollar copay" or "zero dollar premium". Is there some special meaning to that term that is different than "free", "almost free", "less than a dollar" or "costs pennies"? I suspect there is some industry specific nuance.

Well the term "Free Co-pay" doesn't have the same ring. They could say no co-pay I reckon, but it all means the same in my book.

I have quite a few clients that pay anywhere from $0 to $0.99 a month for insurance. Certainly not a great plan and also don’t make a ton of money. I’ve also got clients that pay of $2k a month

Indeed. The Cocks’ promotional brochure touts them as being “SEC Championship free” and “National Championship free” as opposed to being “Zero” in those categories. Smart.

The term is used in some federal lease contracts. Many contracts require the transfer of some sort of "consideration" to be valid. That's why you sometimes see property titles conveyed for $5 or some pittance instead of simply free. Same with contracts for sale if there is no earnest money transferred. The pessimist in me makes me think it being used in ads for insurance and legal services has some special loophole meaning.
