Default Looking for Livescope Sonar information...

Looking at new electronics for my bay boat....use will be nearshore, inshore, and some lake fishing...I am, self admittedly, somewhat technologically challenged. Prob'ly more stubborn and antiquated than challenged, to be completely honest, but nonetheless...

Is it just OMNI sonar we use offshore on a smaller scale? I am familiar with sidescan technology on my Garmin XSVs...looking for some input and suggestions.

Your last line reminded me of a good one I heard the other day

Russel Marine Products has a very helpful staff and lots of good YouTube videos. I put a LVS34 and a 12" screen on my Xpress. I also put a 9" screen on the helm. All garmin stuff and it was plug and play but I was starting from scratch. They like clean power. Dont skimp on the wire size.

Will the unit you have now work with livescope?

What size screen do you have?

That's the 32. Still not a bad deal. I have the LVS34 paired with a Garmin 106SV on my kayak and it's fantastic!!! It does take some understanding and practice to get any usefulness out of it. The thing with Livescope or any forward facing sonar is that it's not a "set it and forget it" thing. The beam of the transducer is thin and is directional meaning that you have to steer it in order to see things. That's why you see the bass pros either mounting the ducer on their trolling motor shaft so they can steer it with the foot pedal or they have a separate down rod that the transducer is mounted on that they steer by hand or with a controller of some type. Because the image you are seeing is in real time and fish swim as well as having your boat moving you need to steer the transducer to follow your target. Once you get it down though it's absolutely video game fishing!
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL
