If you notice a decline in your hunting area, might leave some for seed.

    _______
RHDV2’s mortality rate is 70 percent or higher. Our goal at this point is to do what we can to prevent the virus from spreading into the wild rabbit population and potentially further infecting domesticated rabbits,” said Michael Neault, State Veterinarian and director of Clemson University Livestock Poultry Health (LPH).

Probably all of my deer hunting for the remainder of the season will be done in the afternoon/evenings. I’ll chase the beagles every morning I get the chance until I decide to start squirrel hunting

Looks like a great time. Brings back great memories of hunting rabbits in the lowcountry briar patches.
Good rabbit dogs are a hoot to hunt with.

Glad you got to come hunt with us this time. Not too bad for a little over two hours of hunting with a pack of dogs on their first hunt this year. Always a great time with friends with no shortage of laughter.

A little rabbit hunt humor from this past weekend,

I was hunting Saturday morning with our normal crowd at some property I had gotten us access to. We had been running the same swamp rabbit for over an hour when Brock ( who owns the dogs) starts hollering across the cutover for me.

Brock: “Michael, you got a leash in your vest?”
    Me: “Yea”
Brock: “ if that male dog comes by you, catch him and take him to the truck”
    Me: “ok, which one of’em?”
    Brock: “the MALE dog”

Now keep in mind, we had 10 dogs on the ground.
I knew that but I didn’t have a clue how many males or females we had, I thought it only logical to assume with 10 dogs there were multiple ones of each. Brock on the other hand thinks if you know he brought 10 dogs you should automatically know how many of each. Turns out he only had the one male on Saturday

Again I yelled out: “ yea, but which one”
Brock: “ IT’S A MALE DOG, STUPID, IT’LL BE THE ONE WITH A DICK UNDER HIS STOMACH

The sounds that a rabbit hunter makes to get the dogs whipped into a frenzy can be off-putting to those unaware of such practices. At one time I thought I was listening to some kind of human sacrifice..turns out it was just rabbit hunters. Lol
    At least I'm housebroken.
