Big moment in Family history here ... My only grandson at 2 yrs old going on his first ever deer hunt yesterday evening ... He was very attentive and quiet as a mouse.
As I reflect on this Thanksgiving and all we have to be thankful for, I am especially beyond blessed to have a healthy, close, normally functioning Family.
I had no Family members in my youth that introduced me to the outdoors ... It's just something I decided I wanted to do and I earned my stripes the hard way ... I vowed while on those solitary hunting and fishing trips that I would raise my own Family as much in the outdoors as possible ... And I did ... I spared no expense in outfitting my 2 sons in hunting and fishing gear, and I invested the time to take them at every chance.
Of course, there was the school functions and youth sports along the way, but I stayed involved at every turn and even put in the time to coach wherever I could.
And then the girls came ... But my Son's didn't waiver from the outdoor motto and managed to snag 2 wonderful outdoor daughter in laws.
Both my sons work in the Family business, which they are literally the operators of now ... They have worked hard and we have acquired and amassed a rather large place to live on and pursue our interests in the outdoors ... We hunt and fish together as a Family almost every day.
I just don't know what more a guy could ask for ...... And I give Thanks to the Almighty for it.
I'm showing my age and have to face the fact that I can't do now what I could 40 yrs ago ... I have been blessed with the most precious granddaughters you could ever imagine ... But there's just this 1 grandson (so far anyway).
So this is it ... The process of passing the torch to the next Generation.
