Dont you have a turkey to brine?

I swear its like arguing with five year olds. I bet you hate soccer, too.
I said distasteful. You want me to post the definition?

    PECAN BOURBON POUNDCAKE

1/2 c European style butter ( higher fat content)
    2 1/2 c sugar
    6 eggs
3 c all purpose flour (sift after fluffing and measuring
    2 ts baking powder
    1 t salt
    1 t ground nutmeg (I grate fresh)
    1 c sour cream
    1/2 c bourbon
    1 t vanilla
1 1/2 c chopped pecans (floured w/ a sprinkling of flour from the measured 3 cups - do not add extra flour)

Measure all fluffed dry ingredients and sift. Beat butter and sugar til very fluffy. Add egg one at a time and scrape down. Blend sour cream and bourbon. Add vanilla. Alternative adding sour cream mixture then flour. Be very careful to mix as little as possible so that you have a light, tender crumb. Add pecans. Pour in buttered and floured pan. Bake @ 325 approximately 1 hr 15 mins. Check early with toothpicks. Sometimes cooks quicker.
For glaze mix powdered sugar and bourbon to taste and desired consistency.

I’m showing up for fried dark turkey meat over rice with a pile of giblet gravy, my momma’s Mac and cheese, green bean casserole and broccoli casserole. Pumpkin bars with cream cheese icing and chopped pecans for dessert. I’m sure there will be plenty of other stuff, including a few dishes from people that like to get experimental (don’t be that person that puts water chestnuts and homemade onion straws in the green bean casserole) that ruin a perfectly good food item that people look forward to all year.

No, sir, we're in Georgetown. Getting them from a place on Pawley's called Moe's. Would've done them myself if my Egg were down here. I am frying two, so there's that.

You folks are about to be eating good from what I read in this thread.

Lucky for me, my mother in law is a phenomenal cook, and we're headed there for a couple days. I have no idea what's on the menu but in almost 10 years of knowing them I've never eaten anything she cooked that wasn't great.

Even luckier for me, they don't like eating leftovers. So they'll be sending us home with a few days worth of food.

If you do cook something, make sure to take a picture of the overcooked concoction of canned food you create.

Just cook your rice in the ham juice and it comes out as greasy rice. My favorite carb in the whole world.

Same idea as a chicken bog cooking the rice in the chicken drippings.

Some of the prices from Halls Chophouse were not actually bad for a fully catered Thanksgiving meal.
