    Default Doves showing up

Walked across one of my fields yesterday going deer hunting and 100+ got up off of it. This field hasn’t had hardly any doves on it all year. Only about a 4 acre field planted in Browntop, hopefully they hang around until Sunday or Monday.

I had a bunch three weeks ago and was trying to keep enough corn mowed to hold them but they were GONE last weekend.

Did anyone do any good, the group I saw had moved on I guess. Planting some wheat this week with hopes some come back.

We were attempting to plant this last weekend again, but the field was still too wet from the 5” of rain we’ve gotten in the last 8-9 days

Finally had a few show back up this week. Went out with the dog this morning and managed to kill six, pretty poor shooting on my part but a pretty fun morning. Two kinda odd things, I had a couple decoys out in a tree close by trying to get them closer and a hawk tried twice to get one of the decoys. Then about 8:30 a 4 pt buck walked within 20 ft of me and the dog. Kinda crazy since I had shot 12 or so times before he came by. It was hilarious when he realized we were there at that close distance. Good fun morning overall.

Lots of birds hit my field this morning. 114 with 10 guns but plenty of birds for full limits. Shooting was sub par.

No it was put there as a joke. I wasn’t wasting shells on the nasty things. We were making fun of my brother for shooting it. Actually, we did tell him to throw his trophy pigeon up there.
