    Default New Rifle

Going to get a new 270 for the teenager. I'm looking at the Tikka or the Begara but am open to any brand really. I have a 90's model Remington 700 bolt action that she loves but unfortunately, they don't make it anymore and I can't find one brand new in the box, on gunbroker. Which brand does the SCDUCKS faithful like in this caliber?

You looking for a family heirloom type weapon or just one to get her by?

Beater rifle.....there's a pile to choose from. I got mine a Ruger American. Stock is cheap, but it's plenty accurate.

Eithers a great choice if you have to buy new. Since she is comfortable with the 700, I would get a Bergara

Bergara is a 700 clone so aftermarket stocks triggers etc are plentiful.
Less so for the Tikka. Cant say one is better than the other.

I think if I was wanting a gun with a wooden stock it would be this Tikka or a Sako. I like the synthetic in a hunting rifle because I tend to scratch the stock a good bit on shooting rails and such.

No idea how they shoot but I want a Browning 1885. Just something about it.

If you can find an old Winchester 70 featherlight, it’s a really sweet shooting, carrying, and looking gun.

There's one of them in 30.06 at a gun store I frequent. My hands linger on it often. I hope it's not there this weekend. I might bring it home.

Heirloom, Sako 85 Hunter, FinnBear or Bavarian. Tikka has wood stocks as well but it’s usually a much lower grade of walnut than they use in the Sako. A M70 Super Grade or Featherweight would be a good choice as would the Sauer.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I may go with the model 70. Hopefully the featherweight will be a good rifle for her and won’t kick too hard since being so light. Thanks for the input!

Sako makes a nice wood stocked gun.

    Also Browning.

I have a new Savage 110 blued in .270Win that I have been thinking of selling or trading on here just need to pay my membership again. Would be a good choice to add to a Boyd's wood stock and then you have a backup.

I run a sako 85 bavarian and it is second to none. Accuracy is amazing and the quality is better than anything I've seen in modern rifles. Buy once and cry once. I own a sako L69R as well and the quality in the 60s is versus my modern model 85 are equal. Good luck on your search!
