Anyone ever fish this area for trout? Heard stories of trout fishing there, need to know more about it. Could be a short trip to flyfish instead of NC.

“You must teach your children that the ground beneath their feet is the ashes of your grandfathers. So that they will respect the land, tell your children that the earth is rich with the lives of our kin. Teach your children what we have taught our children, that the earth is our mother. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. If men spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves.”

I have - the best fishing is a short hike from there. Get with me in a month or two and I'll be ready to go...

i tried fishin for em one day, after seeing 2 foot brown trout floating around like giant turds in a punch bowl. i tried everything. inlines, tiny poppers, even what rednecks in the mountains use, to no avail.
im guessing fly fishing might work...
if you can see a fish, 9 times outta 10 you cant catch it.

Stocking will begin again for these trout shortly, but to catch the bigger seasoned trout come up the saluda from riverbanks about a mile...there is a island in the middle of the river. Fish the right hand side. Streamers work better for these bigger browns.

The trout were already stocked, back in the middle of Dec. Trout can be caught anywhere on th Saluda, from right behind the dam all the way to behind the zoo. they will hit anything from corn kernels, any kind of worm, minnows, most spinner baits and most scented type nuggets. The bigger browns are most often caught on cut herring. Good luck and be careful. keep a close eye on the water level.
