What's the deal? Long term winner or money loser?..automotive press is talking a blue streak about how much better 1/2 ton trucks these are over all of the others.

At least I'm housebroken.
Not sure how much faith I have in any new vehicles.
Friend of mine has the 2022 ram 1500 with the diesel. We talked about this truck yesterday and so far he had nothing but good things to say about it.
He has pulled their camper with it twice cc boat several times and dads tractor 45hp Kubota. Said truck has extreme torque doesn't even know either is behind it and handled all three well. This truck is a daily driver for his wife and she is averaging 25-30mpg
Unless something changes he is planning to buy another one to replace his Chevy 1500 in next 50000 miles
Just dumped a 2021 F150 ….transmission wheel bearing and 3 electronic gremlins in first 15k miles
All new trucks seem to be shit these days

I switched from a '07 Silverado (with the lifter, cam, burning oil issue) to a used '14 years back. Currently 125K miles, great gas mileage, and better towing than the 1500. So far no complaints and I'd buy another tomorrow.
Been in a 2020 Ram 1500 gas for 2 years and love it. Have not had any issues in 50k except a gasket that Ram replaced under warranty. Very comfortable, lots of room front and back. The torque is crazy. It can do a burnout with Toyo ATs. If you get serious about one, check out 33dodge.com. They deliver new models within 300 miles I believe. If you don’t like it, you can tell the driver to turn back around and take it back.
the way those Montana ranchers use and abuse those Rams pulling live stock trailers up and down shitty dirt/rock roads and everything else that gets hooked up to them....they seem pretty damn tough to me

Ford, Chevrolet, or Ram… it’s like beating a dead horse

More fuel = more boost!!
I’ve got a 2500 gas truck. It’s been pretty good mechanically, pulls like hell, mileage when not towing is pretty damn good, but it rides worse than a covered wagon chased by Indians in a John Wayne movie. Other than that, it’s been pretty good.
My 06 1500 Silverado has over 409k
May be time for a new truck

we run 3, two are ‘14 and ‘17 3500 diesels and one is a 2020 3500 gasser. the ‘14 has 130,000 miles on it and has had two turbos, and the ‘17 has been in and out of the shop lately and it only has 75,000 miles. granted we pull 24 ft stock and horse trailers up and down terrivle mtn roads but they’ve been better than the chevys and fords out here
i wish a buck was still silver, back when the country was strong
I have never bought a vehicle with resale in mind. We try to drive them in the dirt before getting rid of them.
I'd like to buy a truck with the idea that it would be driven in to the ground..I did that with a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 that I bought brand new many moons ago. "Driving it into the ground" was 35K miles when it needed a new transmission...traded it off. Now we have a new mousetrap with Ram. I'm not convinced that the new Tundra trucks are it, which I generally favor for reliability and resale. The beat goes on..
