That shouldn’t matter. All 4 prefs should have been filled before they move to the 3’s.

I'm not sure it works that way. It doesn't work that way in other states, at least.

If it's a true lottery system, having more points doesn't guarantee you're getting drawn, just that your number is in the hat more times.

SC have draw hunts for deer/turkey the draw begins with the hunters with the most preference points.

Lottery hunts are a true lottery, points give hunters a better chance to draw, but a hunter can draw with no points. Common in the West.

All I know is that for a group of 3 to get a quality draw, that cash could have been used to drive those three people somewhere with some ducks.

Explain to me how it is a "drawing" if you have to have preference points to be considered. Sounds to me like the good old buddy system!

It's not that hard to understand really. You get a preference point for each year you are not drawn and then are weighted as such with priority the next season based on number or points. If it was a random drawing*, without any points, some folks could possible never get drawn. Just like most OOS Big game hunts for certain units etc. that aren't straight OTC. Unfortunately no it is not the good ol boy system.

If your email says unsuccessful and 4 points you had 3 points going in.

I think I got my first pick but cant remember.
I also picked 20+ dates with 2 hunters. I would be willing to bet smaller number groups or individuals get picked to fill in gaps but just a guess
