Default What to plant in the next 2 weeks?

Three of us ended up on a new hunt lease this year, the type that you get your own 80-100 acres/private stands. We get one corn pile per section but can plant food plots. No plots exist but we have some fire breaks/old road ways that we can disc with a 4 wheeler. We don't have access to tractors/planters. we'd like to disc up and broadcast something in the next couple of weeks. Any suggestions on type of seed? Rye?

Just trying to get something green out there. We don't live close so freshening the corn pile (no feeders allowed) doesn't happen often enough.

    Thanks in advance.

A wagon full of corn can make a big pile

Wheat/oats, disc-broadcast-lightly disc again. Maybe a little fertilizer and pel-lime, maybe.

I wouldn't do shit until I figured out what this storm is gonna do.

It's every bit as likely to dump 20" of rain as it is 0" of rain. Either way is bad around here.

listen to old people. they know whats up. young people get all fucking freaked out bc they google stuff and believe it.

    make dirt.
    spread seed
    cover seed
    rain

its that simple. whackem is probably right but you just arent going to do a soil test or fertilize, so dont bother.

I'd plant oats, wheat, and/or rye
it will grow. you will think you're awesome. deer wont give a shit.

    seriously. you got this.
I'd put a dip in first....

At least you’ll have good moisture when you get time. I busted my ass Sunday and got about 60% of my stuff planted, I went back and top sowed it with oats just incase we get 6-8” and the other stuff gets packed in.
