Shot a buck from a ground blind Oct 31, 2019. Watched him bed down and lay his head down after the shot. 5 minutes later he picked his head up and just walked off. Had blood for maybe 50 yards after his bed and that was it. Arrow said liver/and I thought I nicked lung too. Had him on camera a week later and you could barely see the entry wound. Killed him Dec of ‘20 with the muzzleloader with just a little scar between his ribs. They’re crazy critters.

So is the deer dead or not?

I gotta be that guy. Where's the "giant"? Sorry, couldn't help it. Shocked that buck lived. Would be interested to see the other side.

Hahaha...I thought the same thing. It was a giant from an 8 yr old's view point. To my credit, he was sitting with my dad in a buddy stand and I was 40 yds or so from them in a lock on with a minimal view point.

If my 8 year old sunk an arrow into that, I would call it a giant too.

Crazy. Literally an inch lower and he doesn’t go 50 yards. This was the exit on the deer I killed Saturday. Perfect double lung hit. Deer ran 30 yards and died. Shot from 16’ high at 20 yards on the nose. I wish I’d have taken a pic of the entry, it was MAYBE 2” lower than the one on the trail cam pic…..

That angle isn’t as steep as you would think, especially knowing the target/entrance point as 3 feet above ground level so you’re actually looking at 17 foot of elevation along that one side, not 20.

I had a nice 8pt come in from behind me and I turned in an awkward position to shoot him. He was less than 20 yards and I was about 15ft up, I put a slick trick about the same spot this deer was hit at. The buck bled very little and I never found him. The awkward position also caused me tons of pain for months and all kinds of doctor bills.

Nothing at all, I was poking fun at you saying you think the deer is dead. Carry on
