That one hits close to home, these young people never have a chance at life.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

she was an honorary captain at the furman game.
it was a prolonged ovation when her name was mentioned. I would guess maybe 100 people in the stadium had ever met her, but the outpouring of support chilled me a little...I admit it.

Godspeed to her and prayers to those affected.

Agree on so many levels. Hard enough watching an adult love one go through it. Can't even begin to comprehend how hard it would be with a child.

Spend a day in the Pediatric Oncology unit. Your entire outlook will change.

First you see how many kids are in the fight and it sucks the wind out of you. Then you really see how hard these kids are fighting and your perspective changes.

The thing that really dragged me down wasn't that our son had cancer, it was knowing people would look at him and feel sorry for him. I didn't want anyone's pity or sorrow. I wanted them to wink and say, "kick its ass".

In the absence of choices, decisions are crystal clear (at least it was for us) and you're going to fight.

you make a good point, goose. kids dont know what we know. why make it so damn hard on them?

the "transition to high school is hard". or other such things we put on our kids....
kids dont know this shit. Its ok (IMO as a parent) to do all the worrying and let them do all it takes to be a kid.

I read about this earlier today and not gonna lie I teared up a little. 15 years old and having to go through something like this is just awful. I can't imagine watching one of my kids suffer like she did. Godspeed young lady. Prayers for their family.

Horrible news. St Jude is my favorite charity due to the children.
Nothing pulls at my heart strings more than terminally ill children.
My condolences and prayers for her and her family
