Biggest ripoff in antifreeze is 50/50 mix.......You only get half as much. So ya buying am half gallon of water.

You're right, but considering how many of the younger generation(s) can't even write their names in cursive, or know how many States are in the USA, etc, I'd be surprised if they even knew what this coolant is for, much less trusting that they could figure out what a 50/50 ratio was.

Most all are propylene glycol base these days as ethylene is hazardous. Antifreeze also has additional inhibitors and additives to make it conducive for automobile service. Some make it a big mystery so they can charge more for it

I’ve been looking at various antifreeze brands and have yet to find one that uses propylene glycol. They all use ethylene glycol.

Do you know of any specific AF/C’s that are for older vehicles and use PG?

Evans makes a product called Engine ice that i think uses PG. It is nontoxic anyway.

That stuff runs $35 per 1/2 gallon… whew.

I did find that along with some of the varieties for specific brand vehicles, the Prestone Platinum Concentrate uses the added ’bitterant’ ingredient, and that only runs about $13/gallon, so I’ll count on their taste buds, along with normal cautions.
