My first experience with shrimp salad was pretty awful. Red, grainy and no flavor. If there was shrimp in it, it was put through a blender.

Let me get back to the house and I’ll post a picture of my mothers recipe. It came from an old black lady at Shellman Bluff, Ga and it is the best shrimp salad I have ever had

I try to copy one from a place at the beach. It has mayo, onion, celery, boiled egg (all of which are chopped up pretty fine and there’s not much of it) green onion, dill, salt, pepper. Maybe a tad bit of lemon juice.

I’ve never tried to make it so I’m not sure how the portions work out but I know she would always use a pound of shrimp and it would make a full size mixing bowl worth. We lost mom back in 2021 and my brother has been trying to perfect the recipe like hers but just hasn’t gotten there yet. Also I do know…no colored noodles and the longer it sits in the fridge the better.

Shrimp salad you’d put on a piece of white bread or eat plain. I found one that was pretty simple but good.
Celery, onion, lemon juice, mayo, salt and pepper to taste.
