Default Cake like your grandmother made

A friend from back home makes amazing cakes. Count the layers…… that is right…12. All homemade from scratch at very reasonable prices. Her husband passed away a few years ago, so she has started a baking business from her home and could use some business from folks who love homemade treats.C88D79CE-83AB-487E-9B24-FFEECB8AA5D1.jpg1D419C01-CA46-4414-B5BC-20B7123F254B.jpeg. Super nice lady.

She is in Hemingway. My next cake will be caramel. All homemade. No cake mix.

    Hemingway…

Eat at Scott’s for lunch and then pick up from Sonja’s for dessert.

Wish I'd have known about this a couple months ago, I'd have done just that.

I can deliver to the midlands area...for a small transactional fee of a slice or two.

My aunt what lives in Georgia makes the best caramel cake in the world. The flavor is unreal.

Ugliest cake you've ever seen. Looks like she dropped it, backed over it and then kicked it.

But my goodness is it Heaven on a plate. She has these pewter mugs she keeps in the freezer. She'll slab that cake and pour you a full glass of red top in one of those mugs and in 30 minutes you're dead on the couch from a sugar coma.

Great day this brings back some memories.

My great grandmother would have a chocolate cake on a glass cake stand every time we showed up to her house in Warrior Creek (Laurens) in the 70's/early 80's. Can't remember what her oven was but she cooked on a coal burning stove. No confectioner's sugar either - only granulated for her. I can still feel that icing crunching in my teef.
I don't need my name in the marquee lights....

Looks good. I don't need that kind of evil in my house.

There's a company here in the 'burg that makes, sells and ships a 7 layer caramel cake. The lady who started it has since passed away but her relatives are still making them. They are really good.

I had forgotten about the sugar crunch in the icing...man that'll take you back.

I cut out sweets a while back but have had cakes by this lady in the past. One of the few things that would make me consider folding. They are fantastic.

Looks like my granny’s chocolate cake. Homemade cake and glaze icing not butter cream. Last time she was up for a visit she made me one. That was her last cake . Aunt said she could make it. Close but not the same but it was good too.
