Default Prayers for some folks tonight please

We had a Jamboree last night and today at Westside High School.

Today Crescent High School was playing St Francis from GA ( I am 1980 graduate of CHS) I was looking forward to calling a game for my old school and know most folks in that area. Well about 1/2 through the CHS/St Francis game a CHS cheerleader collapsed , first thought to me was maybe diabetic or even heat but not really that hot .

I could tell by reaction of those down on the track something very serious as going on, the Play Safe Trainers came over and next thing I see are folks scrambling and an AED machine They held a big sheet up and you could tell going to work on her , even doing CPR as they loaded her in ambulance Young lady was in full cardiac arrest

WHS AD told me when in ambulance she was non responsive

Got a few text from Anderson 3 Superintendent all afternoon and thank goodness young lady is doing ok and talking They we’re transferring her from Anmed to GHS for a cardiac specialist to find out what happened . IF Play Safe Trainers had not been there not sure this young lady would have survived. Her Mom and Dad down there with her the entire time

Just a very helpless feeling sitting there watching all that transpire , but so thankful all those folks did not bat an eye and jumped right in and did their job.

Been kind of numb to the bone

Then I get home and wife is telling me about a young lady that was friends with our son when they were HS age (she is also a CHS grad and former CHS Cheerleader )

I posted something on here a while back about a SCDNR officer Zach Tatum

He and his wife Taylor have a little boy that is a miracle and long story, basically he is 3-4 yr old and is still on a breathing tube

Taylor has given up her teaching career to take care of their son Landon

When I got home tonight my wife told me Taylor (33 yrs old ) has colon cancer and concerns it is in her liver

Please say a prayer for this young family tonight

Dang. Never an easy thing to deal with having an athlete go down like that. Rare but it happens. Texted the AT at Crescent. Hope everyone is doing well.
“Duck hunting gives a man a chance to see the loneliest places …blinds washed by a rolling surf, blue and gold autumn marshes, …a rice field in the rain, flooded pin-oak forests or any remote river delta. In duck hunting the scene is as important as the shooting.” ~ Erwin Bauer, The Duck Hunter’s Bible, 1965

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

That is awful about Zach’s wife.

We will certainly add them all to our prayer list.

I had that vaccine with no side affects to date. I discussed with a doctor and pharmacist for almost a hour before deciding to take. No issues with my heart. A personal decision for everyone Social media should not be a factor in the decision, imo. There is little data on the new vac so I assume there are some risk factors for a small percentage of people.

Both shots feel like a tetanus shot, no pain afterwards. No changes in the heart for 5 days and EKG still the same for me.

Hopefully the young lady continues to do well and SC has trained staff at more sporting events. This type of occurrence are rare but there have been several dozens per years will before Covid.

    I agree

3-4 yrs9PRE-COVID) back we had a basketball player at TL Hanna collapse and same thing. Trainers and off duty nurse used AED and CPR and saved his life right there on the court

I hope ALL schools have Play Safe or some equally trained trainers at all events.
