Life isn't fair, if you want to hunt on Sundays then buy land. The upstate is not the lowcountry and the season dates will never be the same.

Since you are so knowledgeable on turkey and deer populations within the state and each game zone, what is your take on the standard issued deer tags vs. deer quota permits vs. depredation permits for deer?

Private land already gets 4 or 5 days to hunt with Sundays, they need a whole extra week too?
Probably because they need to limit days afield to keep from over harvesting the resource.

With all due respect, you were hunting on Fridays to beat the Saturday crowd to the spot. There's slot more competition with public hunting. The public hunter will not hold back. He doesn't care if there's only one gobbler left to breed the hens. If he gets his chance, he's shooting.

So I could drive up lease prices?

Maybe I ought to take out a huge loan on some land and turn it into a hunt club.

I think a couple of yall might want to read what Socialism actually is. Throwing out that word just because we disagree is like the Left calling everyone racist every time they disagree.

Not even close, son. I am doing just fine financially and worked quite hard to get there.

It's hard to even comprehend why you think being poor is the reason I don't think $1500 is worth a hunt club.

Jimmy, I don’t want baiting or food plots on public land. I don’t want earlier starting dates to match private land, either.

I’m poor and used to spend $4k a year to hunt private land for deer. Zero fucking regrets.

That is because you don't understand the value of hunting property. You come off as just another of these "freelanders" who believe that the American taxpayer is there to fund your hunting desires...

I have heard of prices in the midlands being 20-25 an acre for all hunting rights.

Every time Jimbo posts, it’s an argument and he gets dogged out. It’s like he gets it, but he don’t.

OP, what county? Both hunting and farmland rent can vary greatly depending on the county. Decent farmland in Aiken County may be $35, if it gets rented at all, while our Horry tillable acres demand $100/ac.

If I can't hunt Sunday on public, neither should private land.
If my turkey season is April 1 - 30, the entire state should be.
If my rifle season doesn't open until Oct 11, the entire state should be.
Same number of bucks, does, and turkeys for everyone.

Without all that, there wouldn't be so much enticement to pay that kind of money to hunt private anymore. But that would hamper a significant source of side income to timber companies so there's no way they'd let that happen.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back the truck up

Buying a WMA permit shouldn’t give you the same rights on public land that paying property taxes gets you on private land.
Private land owners (or those leasing private lands) should absolutely get some different rules to play by

About $75 an acre is what the guy who farms my place has been paying.
