We pay almost 5k for 400 acres down from Ashley Ridge High School. Deer, turkey, squirrels, rabbits etc. So that's like $12.50 an acre which to me isn't bad being that it's only 30 min from the house. I also have private land in the upstate and the land around us is going for about $10 or so an acre for mostly pine with a few small spots of hardwoods scattered here and there. Glad I have the opportunity to have both to hunt on and not have to deal with the yahoo's out in the wma's.

Let’s face it Jimmy, you could pay $25 an acre and still not be able to kill sperm in a tube sock, with a porn hub account..

You admittedly cried over killing a deer it took you 40 attempts to kill with half of Iowa's corn harvest dumped. I'd sit this one out. Don't wanna make you cry again.

To answer the original question, decent upstate tracts will lease in the $13/acre range for hunting. I’m sure you can get further out and maybe pay a little less.

I lease 105 acres between Aiken and Wagener for $500, just me and whoever I invite.
I'd gladly pay two or three times that if it comes to it one day.

Well this has gotten outa hand lol
“Duck hunting gives a man a chance to see the loneliest places …blinds washed by a rolling surf, blue and gold autumn marshes, …a rice field in the rain, flooded pin-oak forests or any remote river delta. In duck hunting the scene is as important as the shooting.” ~ Erwin Bauer, The Duck Hunter’s Bible, 1965

I lease 500 acres in Allendale county I’ve had it since the early 80s. Started at 6 acre and over the years only went to 10 an acre.
A grandkid bought the land 2yrs. Ago and went to 15. But we have all hunting rights and year round access.

Jimmy, I have a serious question. I’m just trying to figure you out that’s all. How old were you when you started hunting? Honest question.

All I know is that leases keep going up. For me, it’s getting to the point where it wouldn’t be worth it anymore. Paying $2-$4k to shoot some wood goats is getting a little ridiculous
