It’s a sedge of some sort, weird that it’s not headed out this late.

Looks like really lime green colored chufa to me.

Leave it to the soccer player to think about nuts
“Duck hunting gives a man a chance to see the loneliest places …blinds washed by a rolling surf, blue and gold autumn marshes, …a rice field in the rain, flooded pin-oak forests or any remote river delta. In duck hunting the scene is as important as the shooting.” ~ Erwin Bauer, The Duck Hunter’s Bible, 1965

I’ve got a pile of that stuff growing in some plots that were planted in chufa last summer. I was hoping it was some volunteer chufa and have left it alone this summer

Last year it was chufa. This year it’s yellow nut sedge.

How tall is it? Serrated edges on leaf blade? Hard for me to tell in pics but make damn sure it’s not cogongrass. If it is, imazapyr and burn. Don’t let it seed out. White fluffy seed head.

Using your picture above, in the picture this app, it came back with Cogongrass.

Pull up a handful and look at it. If it’s got rhizomes, then it ain’t Chufa.

It's definitely not chufa. It's been taking over in an area that's not disc every year.

This is chufa. It's only been up for a week.

Nutsedge falls almost equal to dog fennel in my "shitty weed" scale, both still topped by pigweed. I miss the days of yore just really loathing Johnson grass. Sicklepod still falls behind, then cockleburrs
