    Default Los Suenos Costa Rica

I'm taking the family to Los Suenos for Spring Break. Maverick was recommended to me as a charter company, but frankly, I've been disappointed in their responsiveness- two inquiries with no response. Has anyone fished in Los Suenos, and if so, who did you charter with? Thanks, Trey

Mike Alligood on the Epic. Great dude and is good a fisherman as they come.

If George Beckwith's group is still running down there I'd give him a shot.

Fished with him back in 2005 for a few days and it was incredible.

Id fish Mike Alligood or Bubba Carter if I was in Los Suenos. Quepos is close and would be a different set of folks

Can I come? Don't care who we fish with.

Maverick is good. Quepos is not as calm as Los Suenos unless your kids are old salts. Stay there at Los Suenos. it’s easier. Depending on when their break is most Maverick boats fish that Jan Feb Mar sailfish tourney. Better check. They may fill up fast. May be spendy.

Went this past April. . Fished on firefly. Fishing was awesome along with the guys on the boat. I’ll be back there again in a year or two.

Just ran in to this tournament issue today. Spendy is right and there appears to be a touch of a shortage, particularly for smaller operators. Getting quotes of $2600-2800 per day. No idea what is typical daily but thought it would be closer to even $2k.

There’s a group in Quepos that’s much cheaper on the fishing and all inclusive.. The boats are fine but aren’t Carter’s boat.

I think epiccharters has a 6 person all inclusive that wasn’t terrible .

Queposfishingadventures.com is about the same for 6. Moon Walker is too

I have a fair amount of experience down there. What is the targeted species?? Dorado and Sails are easy and caught within sight of land. March is Marlin and Tuna time. For the kids?? Don't overlook the fantastic inshore opportunities on Roosters, huge Cuberas, Jacks and Snook.

Los Suenos - Maverick is great. Tres Amigos, Capt. Tom ( the Tico one, not the Charleston guy). Scatterbrained is a great boat and team .

Quepos? We have had great success with the Bluefin charters team. It's an incredible fishery . Double digit days on Sails within 30 minutes from the marina.

Thanks for additional info. Nitro- sails are primary target although would love to hook up with a marlin. Won’t say “no” to a big dolphin or tuna either. Would love to chase inshore but have a hard time not going offshore two days.

Dolphin are bycatch of trolling. Big ones. We have caught Wahoo out there too.

On the way back to the marina , you can request a stop at the inshore structure for Roosters and snapper. Strong fish. You should be able to catch Snook and big jacks off the beach if desired.

Why would you rather catch sailfish than Marlin?
