    Default Pick my next rifle

.308, threaded barrel. Prefer to stay under $1500. I don't care at all how heavy it is. I'll probably shoot it a bunch the first year or two, get good dope, then maybe a few hundred rounds a year after. Really looking for something I can shoot deer with at 300-500 yards when I eventually turn my issued rifle back in. What do yall recommend?

Off the shelf. Tikka or Begara. Begara has more aftermarket choices since it is a Remington 700 clone. Plus you can get that Begara in a B14 Special Purpose Short Barrel at 18”, throw a can on it and it’s not much different than a 24” barrel rifle.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

If you give 10 people a bag of gold, someone will complain about how heavy it is!

I bought a Bergara B-14 ridge with the 18” barrel so with a suppressor hanging off the end it wasnt obnoxiously long. It’s fit the bill perfectly and I’ve been very happy. A little over $800 brand new, hard to beat.

Scope recommendations? Same general price range. Tracking and repeatability being the most important.

Good choice. I wish I could have found a CTR in lefty but was just as happy with the T3X. I put what salty just posted on it, and it's a damned shooter.
