    Default Duracraft transom modification...

I have a Duracraft 1548 that has been sitting idle for a long time... I suspect the existing motor is going to be an issue to repair, but will try to get it done (1999ish Merc 25 short shaft).

The boat has a "notched" transom (factory?) for a short shaft motor. IF I have to repower it, I'm looking at a Suzuki 30... and it only comes in long shaft.

What would be the best option or source to get the transom re-configured for a long shaft motor? Lexington area...

Have a good guy, but in Murrells Inlet, if you can't find one local. Marine Service Center guys used to do this a lot for the long shaft electric 15hp motors for flounder fishing.

Hayes Aluminum in chapin redid a transom for me years ago. Not sure if they’re still around but they did a good job as far as I could tell

Could you add a transom jack plate instead of reconfiguring the transom?

I’ve heard good things about S&S Fabrication on Nazareth Rd Lexington.

Hit up Palmetto Trooper. If he can't do it he'll have someone on your side of the lake that can.
