Anyone finding any yet? I've covered miles of ground in our National Forest in the Enoree district, places where I found 100's of them delicious things last June. In total I've found 1 the size of a quarter and 2 buttons nearby. There aren't even many non-edible mushrooms growing right now.
This heat and lack of rain in the upstate has been bad for mushroom growth. We got some rain today and are forecasted for more next week but I'm not sure it'll be enough. Maybe the lower part of the state has been better?
I'm craving some sautéed chanterelles on top of a medium rare deer steak!
